Homemade Basil Noodles

You don't have to make your own noodles but this will make you feel good and impress your significant other, family, friends or roommates!  A basil noodle makes for a wonderful pasta dish. I personally love paring it with A creamy chicken pesto.  I will give the recipe for the chicken and pesto soon!

Serves 4

3/4 Cups of fresh basil
1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
1 egg
1 tbsp. of olive oil
2 tbsp. of water
2 1/2 tbsp. of all purpose flour
3 tbsp. Parmesan cheese (grated or Kraft brand)

1)Using a blender process basil leaves until very fine. Add 1 1/2 cups of flour and pulse until combined. Add egg and 1 tbsp. of olive oil add water until you dough forms a ball shape. If your dough seems dry add a little more water.  Wrap dough in plastic wrap and store in your refrigerator for about 2 1/2 hours. if you want to lightly coat the ball in olive oil before you wrap it.

2)Remove dough from refrigerator cut into 5 equal size portions. Roll it out with a rolling pin until you have reached your desired thickness.  Use additional flour to coat pasta and roller to prevent sticking.

3) Allow pasta to dry for an hour before cooking.

4)Cook in a large pot of boiling water ( I  put in a chicken flavored bouillon for an extra savory noodle) until they are al dente. The time it takes to cook them all depends on the thickness of your noodles.
